PROJECT OVERVIEW
In my work “The Pigs You Feed”, I address political shifts in which actors from the social mainstream increasingly adopt narratives and problematic rhetoric in an attempt to appeal to frustrated voters on the far right. This process carries the risk of gradually eroding fundamental democratic values.
The mural depicts a metamorphosis: well-fed piggy banks transform into real pigs. These, in turn, develop into soldiers of an extreme political direction and then mutate into a new form of “right-wing nobility,” which reinvests resources back into the next generation of small pigs. A self-perpetuating and dangerous cycle emerges.
I intentionally work with simple, clearly recognizable forms and figures that can be grasped immediately. The consistent perspective resembles the aesthetics of a video game, suggesting that the depicted protagonists act as if remotely controlled — embedded in a system that increasingly displaces individual responsibility.
