Wheel Of Fortune

PROJECT OVERVIEW

This interactive mural was created at the entrance of „Holzmarkt 25“, a cooperative creative district on the River Spree in Berlin-Friedrichshain. The 12,000 m² site combines culture, gastronomy, crafts, markets and urban gardens, forming one of Berlin’s most vibrant public spaces. The artwork takes the form of an interactive “wheel of fortune” and reflects the diversity and atmosphere of the site. Symbolic elements reference culture, creativity, water, dance, community and Berlin’s cosmopolitan identity.

A vase pours waves symbolizing both artistic energy and the nearby river; a cat refers to the adjacent dance venue “Kater”; dancing limbs suggest movement and exchange; a globe represents openness; and plants frame the composition, echoing Berlin’s green spaces. Originally commissioned to paint two containers, I proposed transforming them into a participatory artwork that invites physical interaction. Visitors spin the wheel and receive playful prompts, encouraging engagement and shared experience rather than passive viewing.

The project embodies my approach to public art: creating narrative, site-responsive works that foster interaction, community, and a sense of belonging within the urban environment.
